Local Improvement Fund Bids

The cross party panel has assessed all the expressions of interest: Tandle Hill Traffic Management Scheme and Highland Road/St Paul’s School access improvements went through. The panel approved a community shelter in Dogford Park but felt that Royton Park did not need one. Clint and Hannah have dropped letters to all homes backing onto Dogford Park – residents were very firmly AGAINST the idea because of the potential for ASB. This scheme won’t be going ahead. The consultation at Tandle Hill has led to a redesign and further consultation is underway.

Royton Town Hall

Scaffolding will be going up around the Town Hall later in October – this is for essential repairs in advance of the planned big refurbishment due to start in the new year. We hope to organise an open day in January for people to look around one last time before the work starts.  Cleaning the pigeon droppings from the front and access to the library is now done every 2 weeks – action is also being taken to stop roosting.

Christmas is coming…

Plans are underway for a Christmas lights switch on event on Friday 26th November between 4 and 6pm. Royton Councillors have asked Oldham Play Action Group to organise the event this year – it might be different, but Santa is sure to be there. It won’t be possible to put up all the lights on the Town Hall because of the work but it will still be a good display in the Town Centre.
